Built somewhere between 1888 and 1905 by the Grand Trunk Railway (later Grand Trunk Western), #77058 is a standard-design freight caboose with an offset cupola towards the rear, giving the conductor better visibility over the entire train. Originally an entirely wooden frame construction, a new metal frame was constructed by the GTW in the mid-1940's. After being retired from freight service by the 1970's, #77058 was acquired by museum member Craig Harris, who later donated the caboose to MTM once train operations began at SANGB. #77058 served as the museum's mobile ticket stand for decades, eventually being placed into storage alongside ALCO #1807 once base operations ended. Like #1807, significant progress continues on its eventual restoration.
