#11 is a steel-frame interurban coach built in 1926 by the Pullman-Standard Company for service on the South Shore Line between
Chicago, IL and South Bend, IN. Initially built at sixty feet in length, #11 was one of nineteen coaches that were lengthened to 80 total feet between 1942-1948. After the South Shore retired their "orange fleet" of cars in 1982, #11 sat in storage before being acquired by the East Troy Railroad in East Troy, WI. In 2001, #11 was part of a trade with MTM for former CNSM #761, and was one of the last railcars (#761 was the last) to take the USS Badger across Lake Michigan, (aboard a truck trailer). Since its acquisition, #11 sees regular passenger service alongside the rest of our operating equipment. |
