Mission Statement
The Michigan Transit Museum exists to preserve the legacy and history of Michigan railways, streetcars, and electric interurbans using the historic Mount Clemens railway depot as a museum, while operating train rides for educational experiences.
Our History
Michigan Transit Museum was founded in 1974 as a small group with a passion for streetcars and Michigan-focused transit. Since then, we been on a mission to share that passion with the public. This effort has included building a collection of historic rolling stock, occupying and renovating the Grand Trunk depot in Mount Clemens as a history with a focus on Michigan transit, as well as offering train rides to the public on the Grand Trunk Selfridge Spur.
