Welcome to the Michigan Transit Museum

Welcome to MTM!

Since 1974, we have been a fully volunteer-operated nonprofit organization with a focus on Michigan railroads, transit history, and education. Currently offering train rides and depot tours, we are always looking to provide the public with a fun and educational experience about local history.

Next Meeting: Thursday June 11th, 6PM  at the Mt. Clemens Depot

Interested in joining us? Our monthly meetings occur every second Thursday of the month at the depot museum (next meeting: June 11th). Meetings are open to all members; if you are not yet a member, please see our membership page.

Looking for train rides? We run our train every Sunday in the summertime from 1-4PM, departing from Joy Park in Clinton Township. Our line is roughly one mile long, heading towards Selfridge Air National Guard Base and back again.

Have you visited our Depot?  Our open hours are 1-4PM every Sunday, year round! This Grand Trunk depot was originally built in 1859 and is one of Mount Clemens oldest landmarks. Private tours can be scheduled upon request, at the availability of our volunteers.

Interested in our Rolling Stock? We have a historic rolling stock, some of which you won't see just from riding the train alone. Since the mid-80s we have been slowly building a collection of historic locomotives, passenger cars, cabooses, boxcars, and maintenance equipment.
